Vac Truck Operator

Summary
The Vac Truck Operator is responsible for the safe operation and transportation of vacuum trucks and associated equipment to complete single task job requirements. The primary duty of this role will be Vac Truck operations however, there may not be a need for Vac Truck operations for each project, therefore the individual must be willing to assist with other duties to achieve project completion.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.
- Performs industrial tank cleaning response
- Operates and drives equipment in support of the customer and employees whom are engaged in high pressure and material transfers
- Waste pick up and product transfer per request
- Drivers are responsible for loading and offload their load
- Assist in emergency situations
- Maintain all mobile and stationary equipment by performing preventive maintenance (i.e.: lubricating, cleaning, greasing, adding gear lubricants and other minor maintenance and repairs) and document all activity performed.
- Ensures equipment is in compliance with safe work practices, policies and procedures.
- Fill out paperwork and communicates effectively.
- Follow local and federal DOT Regulations while operating truck.
- Ensure proper loading and unloading of hazardous waste/non-hazardous waste (i.e. compatibility of liquid to tank, etc.)
- Adhere to weight limits and ensure proper utilization of company equipment Comply with company policies and procedures, Health and Safety procedures and Department of Transportation
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to operate a standard transmission
- Must be able to pass respirator fit testing
- Must be willing to work day or night shifts/overtime hours during the week or weekend hours
- In order to perform essential duties, regular work attendance is required
- Pass DOT Physical
- Two (2) years of industrial vacuum truck experience
- Knowledge and understanding of local and federal DOT regulations
- Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge
Position Skills and Abilities
- Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's driver license
- Must have a current Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) card
- Must have CDL license (hazmat endorsement must be obtained within 60 days of employment)
- Must pass and complete safety training/certification as required by Path
- Ability to communicate clearly and understandably verbally and in writing in English, using good business grammar
- Ability to read, in English, and understand technical and non-technical material from various sources, make or recommend changes in procedures, and modify or develop training to implement the changes in procedures
- Ability to organize work and handle multiple tasks and assignments while meeting deadlines
- Effective listening skills and ability to answer questions understandably
- Ability to perform independently with general supervisor guidance Ability to accept supervision and direction as needed
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to work with others, takes direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
Additional Notes
- Able to work outdoors in all types of weather environments.
- Must be able to use required PPE, such as hard hat, safety glasses, FRC clothing, gloves, and steel toe work boots.
- Must be able to work in environments that include chemicals, acids, and petroleum products and be around vapors with respiratory protection.
